Gratitude with a Price

Today, Canada grieves the loss of a soldier who was shot by some gunman.  For many of us, our beloved country has always been a promoter of peace.  This morning’s incident shook the Nation’s Capital.  It reminds us that being peaceful doesn’t make us immune to hostility.  While feeling the frailty of our peaceful disposition, my heart goes out to all men and women in uniform who willingly risked their lives to ensure the security of its citizens.  They may often be taken for granted, but not today.  I am grateful to have civil servants fighting for my safety.  It’s unfortunate that this gratitude came from having our safety threatened.  My prayers today are offered for every single one of them.  May God bless them all and watch over them.
